Possible 'easier' polygraph tests will be used so more applicants can finally pass and then become Border Patrol officers

Right now, one out of every three applicants fails their polygraph test. The standard law enforcement polygraph test format uses questions about past drug use and past thefts.

5000 new Border Patrol officers are needed right away, so an easier-to-pass (for most applicants) is being considered to be used instead.

A 'counterintelligence'-type test might instead be used; instead of focusing on usual police applicant  polygraph questions, it will use questions geared toward the likelihood of an applicant becoming corrupted.
