FULL: Polygraph Bootcamp seminar for December 12 is filled.

Attendees are coming from both coasts and from both north and south!

Watch for a future offering.

December 12: Polygraph 'Boot Camp' seminar in the Los Angeles area

Add lie-detection to your existing business and you might find it becomes your main business!

Thursday December 12 2013 in the Los Angeles area

These 25 states have no polygraph license:
Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island,Washington, Washington DC, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Canada has no polygraph license either.

In the above states, you only need 2 things: knowledge, and the equipment. Polygraph is computerized via laptop since 1991, and all 4 brands of computerized polygraph will be discussed-- which to buy and which to avoid. Computerized polygraph equipment is occasionally available for sale used too.

You will leave with important handouts and possessing hands-on polygraph equipment experience. After the training basics, you will have been polygraphed, and you will have polygraphed others. And included will be the topic NOT shared at other polygraph training sources: the BUSINESS of polygraph-- HOW TO GET THE WORK.

Most testing everyday nationwide is relationship: husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, etc, thinking the other might be cheating. Then there is also theft amongst family members and roommates, employee theft, immigration/asylum, and other disputes. Polygraph clients pay in full in cash prior to you conducting the examination, AT FAR MORE DOLLARS PER HOUR THAN YOUR REGULAR WORK.

It's easier than you might think, now that its computerized. You are comparing the body reactions at four points of their body as they answer a standardized 10-question script made up of three question-types. The client gets to write up to four questions, MOST of the rest are simple known-truth questions.

Last time this seminar was offered, people came from all over the US-- and some have good polygraph businesses today. This seminar is not available to persons based in the counties surrounding Los Angeles, as we won't train our own competitors with our experience & secrets!

Did you know: in most major cities, you can not become a law-enforcement officer without passing a polygraph examination.

Unlike training that usually says this, with this it is true: seats are limited.

Contact thePIgroup@aol.com for more information.

Reid Tip--- To Lie or Not to Lie: The Use of Deception During An Interrogation

To Lie or Not to Lie: The Use of Deception During An Interrogation

If the agents involved in the recent Colombia incident are interrogated, should the investigators tell them they have evidence that they don't really have? It depends on a number of considerations.

Earlier this year a case was reported in which a detective doctored a crime lab report to use as a prop during an interrogation. While the suspect did not confess, the detective's tactics spurred legal questions regarding the use of deception during an interrogation. The legal twist was that even though the report used as an interrogation prop was manufactured by the investigator, it was based on factual verbal information provided by the crime lab. In other words, the manufactured evidence contained truthful information that incriminated the suspect but the report was not a bona fide report from the crime lab.

Legal Considerations

The legal test for deceptive practices during an interrogation has remain unchanged for more than 40 years. The use of deception during an interrogation must be considered within the totality of circumstances when deciding the admissibility of a confession. Deception that shocks the conscience of the court or community will generally result in a suppressed confession. An example of deception that "shocks the conscience" is lying to the suspect about the possible consequences he faces, e.g., telling a homicide suspect that the legislature just dropped first degree murder to a misdemeanor. Similarly, an investigator who elicits a confession after falsely telling the suspect that he is his court appointed public defender has "shocked the conscience".

Two recent polygraph examiner mistakes would not have occurred had they attended PEOA refresher training

1. An analog-using examiner (but not a PEOA member) told a TV producer that he could handle their 2 days of televised exams that required a computerized polygraph instrument. Quickly obtaining a computerized instrument and not knowing it well, he fumbled badly. He was dismissed after a few hours on the first day, and was told he wasn't needed. A PEOA-referred examiner finished that first day of exams and also those of the entire second day, and the PEOA examiner's exams were televised.

2. In a recent court case, a polygraph examiner (but not a PEOA member) was found to have not been following Federal polygraph training, instead using words in questions that were not proper to use. Federal training tells of why not to use these words, as they will likely cause false-positive scores.

FullScope Polygraphs are a combination of LifeStyle Polygraphs and CounterIntelligence Polygraphs

These are not to be done by the vast majority of polygraph examiners you can find via the Internet. It involves a lengthy (and originally Federally written) completed application, and the polygraph exam focuses on that application.

A Lifestyle (LS) Polygraph asks the applicant questions that concern the examinees’s personal life and conduct, and can involve all aspects of present and past behavior. Questions asked could concern drug and alcohol use, sexual misconduct, mental health, family relationships, compulsive or addictive behavior, and more. A LifeStyle Polygraph looks for issues in an applicant’s private life for which he or she might be susceptible to blackmail or coercion, and/or whether or not that applicant can be trusted with sensitive information. A very detailed questionaire is involved.

A CI or CounterIntellgence Polygraph asks only questions to determine whether the examinee ever had any involvement with or knowledge of espionage/sabotage/terrorism against the United States, unauthorized contact with representatives of a foreign government, or unauthorized disclosure of classified material. It is sometimes used to determine initial eligibility for a special assignment or special access, and is often administered to persons who already have Top Secret clearances. Usually there are no lifestyle questions included.

A FullScope (FS) Polygraph is the LifeStyle Polygraph and CounterIntelligence Polygraph combined. This examination is usually for positions such as Data Analyst, Technical Analyst, Linguist, Network Engineer, Software Engineer, or System Engineer. A very detailed questionaire is involved.

Visit www.FullScopePolygraphs.com for more information.

Preparing for hot-weather polygraphs and dehydration (no eda/gsr)

If somebody sweats out more than water they drank that day, you may find no eda/gsr activity on your laptop screen.

So it's time to add some new white sticky GSR/EDA electodes to your polygraph supplies!

If you don't already use them, shame on you. They replace the stainless-steel and velcro heads when the fingertips are giving no GSR/EDA tracing due to dehydration or other interference. Two go on the palm of the hand; they bear a snap connector. If you are a busy examiner, you have had situations of little or no GSR/EDA tracings; using white stickies on the palm likely would have cured that.

If you already have some, it's a safe bet that they are past their 18-month shelf-life. Don't let that they still are sticky fool you-- what goes bad first is that the electrode's wet gel in their centers will evaporate, killing the good electrodermal connection.

Vermed (800-245-4025 x1203, ask for 'Pearl', www.Vermed.com) carries the popular disposable types for polygraph examiners. The 1" X 1 3/4" disposable rectangular electrodes (part #GSR-13) are only available in a 1000-piece $163 case order (that works out to less than 17 cents each).

For examiners who have been blaming GSR/EDA problems on their instrument or its software, using white stickies almost always solves the problem. We have observed sxaminers ramble on to excess about faulty instrument software when in reality it was just a dehydration issue that could have been cured by use of 'white stickies'.

TIP: remind examinees to drink plenty of water (not soda or coffee) in the hour or two prior to the exam, to help assure hydration.

California Private Patrol Operator (PPO) license test help for examiners

California Private Patrol Operator (PPO) license test help for examiners:

As many polygraph examiners are from law-enforcement backgrounds, many also choose to offer security or bodyguard services in addition to their exams. In California, this requires obtaining of a 'PPO Private Patrol Operator' license. License test exam questions on that are wide-ranging, from employee matters (bookkeepng, taxes, insurance, hiring, firing, insurance, etc) to client matters (proposals, contracts, duties, lawsuits, etc). Exhaustive study and preparatory material is available through www.thePIgroup.com, including with a pass-guarantee available. After passing, there is no re-testing needed at the 2-year license renewals.

Often, clients of private patrol operators are often clients of polygraph examiners, so it is a good companion business.

How you can already know that a caller will never actually have a polygraph exam done?

Overall, PEOA members average 50-70% of calls & referrals that actually turn into paid exams.

Some of the other callers are just 'looky-loos', competitors, bluffers trying to scare their girlfriends into confessing, scammers, neurotics, and various other time-wasters.

Some examiners have previously said that they know instantly if a person will be engaging their services or not. So, we polled a group of successful examiners, asking them "How can you already know that a caller will never actually have a polygraph exam done?".

Their answers included:

"If they insist on an e-mail conversation only (no phone), it will not EVER go"

"Requiring you to listen to 30 seconds of rap music before their voice mail message comes on is a sign of no-work-here"

"Calls after midnight virtually never become an exam"

"If the caller asks 'Is there any charge for the polygraph exam?', it has never become an actual exam later"

"Telephone calls from 'blocked', 'unknown', or 'withheld' numbers for whatever reason almost never become an actual polygraph exam"

"When he says he wants to buy his own lie-detection equipment so he can test his girlfriend every week, you're wasting your time talking any further"

"Getting several calls from a person in a short period usually means too emotional now, and he/she will not show up for their appointment"

"When you call them back and get a message of either 'Voice Mail Full' or 'Voice Mail Not Set Up Yet', it's not going to happen"

"If trying to call them back for hours you get non-stop busy signals, you have a lonely talker who will not be paying for an exam"

"When you hear the caller being told word-for-word what to say to you by someone in the background, its just another control-freak trying to use polygraph as a free scare"

"When they want to discuss their entire relationship problems by phone, it is usually someone who needs a friend and wont be hiring you"

"When he says 'I want the graphs-- I will decide if she passed or not', say good-bye to the control-freak who is cheating on her"

"If they say 'Cost is no concern', don't count on it"

"(If they contact you by e-mail) The longer their e-mail, the lower the chance they will be hiring an examiner"

"When the caller insists that he be present during the test because he doesn't trust his girlfriend alone with an examiner, we have a control-freak that often is putting her through her 2nd or 3rd exam because he's not happy with hearing NDI"

"They will not be showing up if they want to schedule many weeks into the future"

"Should the caller insist that an examiner be either a woman or a very old man, good luck"

"If they say that they will keep their appointment with you depending on if their tax return or some other money arrives, it will be a no-show"

"A woman crying as she tells that she needs to have herself tested because her guy thinks she is cheating, with a baby or two screaming in the background during the call, will not turn into an exam"

Obviously not 100% for certain, but it was agreed that the above is solidly accurate.

Many polygraphers in California and New York also take the private investigator license tests

Many polygraphers in California and New York also take the private investigator license tests and then set up related concurrent businesses.

Although not as high per hour income as lie-detection produces, private investigation is a good companion business to polygraph, and it is usually a steady income stream.

But passing the test is quite a chore. California & New York private investigator license examination test study material and sample test questions from www.PIcontinuingeducation.com can fill in the blanks of the information needed to pass.

Note: many people looking for lie-detection help first contact a private investigator, assuming that is who offers polygraph to the public!
