1. Equipment sanitized.
2. Masks on all.
3. Plexiglas separation.
4. In-room air purifier.
5. 7-day visitor log.
6. Have your desired testing questions written out on paper before arrival, to greatly reduce the in-office time spent.

--- mobile examiners will not be able to comply with this
---examiners who use a rent-by-the-hour office will not be able to comply with this.
A polygraph guy badmouths a competitor to a caller; the caller instead hires the other polygraph examiner!
A potential polygraph client telephoned a Los Angeles -area examiner for a price quote.
Examiner said "I charge $550. There's another guy you'll find that charges less. But I'm better. If you use him, you'll get a fake polygraph test".
As it turned out, Client was a businessperson herself, and saw the lack of professionalism in phone-guy's sales pitch.
She located the other examiner, got a test that day, and was very happy with the results.
She said: "I was ready to hire the first guy, He should have kept his mouth shut".

Complaint about a California polygraph examiner: although the ads show a nice office building, the address was to an old house. Paid $350. Said inappropriate comments. He hooked up client to a blood pressure cuff and no other attachments. It was an old antique polygraph, no computer involved. No attachments were made to stomach, chest or fingers. Blood pressure cuff pumped so high it hurt badly from start. Said a licensed Private Investigator since 1980s. Said failed. Not true results, not a real polygraph test. Then client realized that this 'PI' or 'polygraph examiner' doesn't even have a website.

Complaint about a California polygraph examiner: Client arrived with the quoted $350, after looking around, Client told Examiner that he wasn't comfortable with what he saw (read why below) and that he was going to contact another examiner instead. Examiner tried to change client's mind, including badmouthing other examiners. Client went to a more experienced examiner, paid less, and got accurate results.
Recent past complaints about this examiner: Y
Examiner gender: M
Client arrived with the questions and cash payment ready. After talking to examiner, it was felt to be 'not legit'. Client said it was a rent-by-the-hour office, not a polygraph office, so it was felt that the examiner must be a part-timer who doesn't do enough polygraph work per month to rent a regular office. Client told examiner that he was going to talk to other examiners before getting tested. Examiner, apparently already committed to rent the office for the hour, tried to dissuade Client from using examiner's competitors.
Same day, Client went to a more experienced examiner with a long-time professional polygraph office, paid less than the part-time examiner would have cost, and got professional results.

Complaint about a California polygraph examiner; yet after all her threats and after all was investigated, it simply was that client was hoping her husband would fail yet he didn't
Recent past complaints about this examiner: N
Examiner gender: M
Husband suggested he take a polygraph test to show he was a faithful husband.
They arrived at examiner's office after having put much thought and time into the writing of questions they wanted to be used for testing. Note: the actual longest part of a Federal 3-part polygraph test is The Pre-Test, where the questions are developed-- correctly, they took all the time they wanted in writing them and fine-tuning them instead AT HOME.
Husband completed testing, was found to have easily passed.
The next day, wife contacted Examiner and said another examiner badmouthed their choice of Examiner, so she wanted her money back. Examiner offered peer review and other accommodation; wife talked about legal action and online complaints and more if her money wasn't returned.
Peer-review of the charts brought the same NDI opinion.
Nasty threats and texts continued, so a neutral examiner with no connection to this client or test became involved.
It was pointed out to Wife that:
-- if indeed a competitor examiner did bad-mouth Examiner, she needs to get that in writing with his signature. Neutral examiner has filed libel lawsuits against other examiners in the past, the profession learning from his willingness to 'go legal', so such a phony badmouthing to be put in writing would never happen (IF this badmouthing examiner actually exists)
-- chart review by others showed that all guidelines were followed
-- chart review by others has brought the same NDI (No Deception Indicated) scoring
-- her own husband was not tested elsewhere obtaining opposite results
-- her claiming that 4 questions maximum was unfair actually is Federal guidelines maximum
-- a re-test by a neutral examiner at no cost could be arranged
-- her own husband (who was tested) verifies that he was telling the truth
-- she admits there is no proof that Examiner's opinion was wrong
-- in a nutshell, all her anger is because she didn't get fail results
-- her being unhappy with the results does not make them wrong

Complaint about a polygraph referral service: Client paid a service on the east coast $150 to introduce her to a supposedly 'expert' examiner on the west coast. Client arrived, it was a rent-by-the-hour office, not the examiner's own office. Client paid $400 more directly to examiner who said client was deceptive, that Client (a woman) strongly disputes, about cheating during her 20-year marriage. Examiner's strong Eastern-Europe accent also added to the problem. Then OUCH, the small print revealed . . .

Recent past complaints about this polygraph referral service: Y

After what Client described as 'completely false results', research was done that revealed the danger of using such a blind-date type of referral service for a professional service. Further research revealed that this 'Examiner' herself only attended her first polygraph training in the last year!
But more research made the client angry.
On the multi-page polygraph referral website, if you go deep enough, it gives details about this new examiner who was referred this critical life-changing test. Shockingly, it revealed in writing:
"(Her) Total Number of (completed) Exams: Under 100" and "(She is a) Member since 2020 / under supervision of (the referral service owner), and "This member is a SUPERVISED examiner - all exams will be assisted by (the referral service owner). Further checking of the polygraph referral website revealed that this 'service' is using this trainee in many cities/counties outside of the county she lives in as their multi-county 'certified examiner referral' using other rent-by-the-hour office addresses.
Her strong accent was an even bigger problem due to her use of needlessly complicated question wording such as "Since you've been married to ___ have you touched another person's genitals for sexual gratification other than your husband?'.
Client claims that this 'supervisor' was not present. Client wants a refund of the useless $150 'match-making' fee and a refund of the $400 and feels they were ripped-off.

Per Client:
Examiner is an older man who came in to test her. He said that because she 'did bad on one question, it skews the entire test' and failed her.
He did not provide the promised report.
Client later went to a more experienced examiner and passed her test.
Wording is very important for polygraph testing. Client advised that other examiners told her that the first examiner's choice of C questions (one was 'Are you a moral person?') were improper, too weak, and/or were of wording not recommended in the last 25 years.
Also to say that failing one question negatively affects the remainder of the test, that too was told to be untrue. There are methods to follow to prevent such a statement to be true.
UPDATE: As client knew the first examiner's results were worthless the very second he said them, combined with the fact that she then passed a polygraph test administered by a more experienced examiner, Client asked the first examiner for a refund. Examiner (in his 70s) refused, asking her if the second examiner 'was extra nice to you because you were pretty'.

Client called other examiners, was told there is no such law but explained why that new examiner might prefer to not allow monitoring. Client, unhappy that he was lied to about a non-existent law, asked Examiner about it. Examiner said "It's MY law' and told Client what would happen if Client came back to office. Details as per Complainant:
Client, a young woman, has a husband who has been incarcerated for 5 years. He got 'the feeling' that his wife might have contact with other guy(s) in his prison, so she offered to take a polygraph test.
She went to the test with her mother-in-law. When done, Examiner reportedly said that (instead of issuing a 'Pass' or a 'Fail') he was issuing the score of 'No Opinion' specifically because her "breathing was shallow".
As Client claimed to have never had ANY contact with any other inmate, she was in disbelief that she didn't easily 'Pass'. She said that he said he couldn't administer another chart because he said he was a police officer and had to get to work. She and her mother-in-law left very upset.
As the examiner's polygraph website told that Examiner was a RETIRED officer from a small municipal police department, they now felt double-lied to. Further research revealed that Examiner has other social media format that says he is a polygraph examiner at a different law enforcement agency.
Client and mother-in-law went to another polygraph examiner, one that was not 'rushed' and had far more experience than the 'No Opinion' examiner. They did NOT tell this Examiner about the prior test. Client easily scored No Deception Indicated (a 'Pass') on multiple charts. Then, as a 4-page report was was being written, the details of the bad testing was shared.
Note: breathing sensitivity is easily adjustable on a modern computerized instrument. As some shirt material or layers of clothing can dampen breathing reactions and make them shallow, there is an on-screen adjustment to instantly adjust for it.

Client telephoned an examiner who was advertising polygraph services. Client was OK with the quoted $350 price and was ready to schedule. But then the examiner told her that he was "more accurate than anyone charging less". That perked Client's interest, and she then contacted other examiners. She ended up choosing a more-experienced examiner who was half of the original quote price, and was very satisfied with the testing results.
Worse, the examiner who had badmouthed anyone charging less than him: he already had several complaints from clients in the past year.
