Complaint about a California polygraph examiner: Client arrived with the quoted $350, after looking around, Client told Examiner that he wasn't comfortable with what he saw (read why below) and that he was going to contact another examiner instead. Examiner tried to change client's mind, including badmouthing other examiners. Client went to a more experienced examiner, paid less, and got accurate results.

Client arrived with the questions and cash payment ready. After talking to examiner, it was felt to be 'not legit'. Client said it was a rent-by-the-hour office, not a polygraph office, so it was felt that the examiner must be a part-timer who doesn't do enough polygraph work per month to rent a regular office. Client told examiner that he was going to talk to other examiners before getting tested. Examiner, apparently already committed to rent the office for the hour, tried to dissuade Client from using examiner's competitors.

Same day, Client went to a more experienced examiner with a long-time professional polygraph office, paid less than the part-time examiner would have cost, and got professional results.

Husband suggested he take a polygraph test to show he was a faithful husband.

They arrived at examiner's office after having put much thought and time into the writing of questions they wanted to be used for testing. Note: the actual longest part of a Federal 3-part polygraph test is The Pre-Test, where the questions are developed-- correctly, they took all the time they wanted in writing them and fine-tuning them instead AT HOME.

Husband completed testing, was found to have easily passed.

The next day, wife contacted Examiner and said another examiner badmouthed their choice of Examiner, so she wanted her money back. Examiner offered peer review and other accommodation; wife talked about legal action and online complaints and more if her money wasn't returned.

Peer-review of the charts brought the same NDI opinion.

Nasty threats and texts continued, so a neutral examiner with no connection to this client or test became involved.

It was pointed out to Wife that:
-- if indeed a competitor examiner did bad-mouth Examiner, she needs to get that in writing with his signature. Neutral examiner has filed libel lawsuits against other examiners in the past, the profession learning from his willingness to 'go legal', so such a phony badmouthing to be put in writing would never happen (IF this badmouthing examiner actually exists)
-- chart review by others showed that all guidelines were followed
-- chart review by others has brought the same NDI (No Deception Indicated) scoring
-- her own husband was not tested elsewhere obtaining opposite results
-- her claiming that 4 questions maximum was unfair actually is Federal guidelines maximum
-- a re-test by a neutral examiner at no cost could be arranged
-- her own husband (who was tested) verifies that he was telling the truth
-- she admits there is no proof that Examiner's opinion was wrong
-- in a nutshell, all her anger is because she didn't get fail results
-- her being unhappy with the results does not make them wrong

After what Client described as 'completely false results', research was done that revealed the danger of using such a blind-date type of referral service for a professional service. Further research revealed that this 'Examiner' herself only attended her first polygraph training in the last year!

But more research made the client angry.

On the multi-page polygraph referral website, if you go deep enough, it gives details about this new examiner who was referred this critical life-changing test. Shockingly, it revealed in writing:
"(Her) Total Number of (completed) Exams: Under 100" and "(She is a) Member since 2020 / under supervision of (the referral service owner), and "This member is a SUPERVISED examiner - all exams will be assisted by (the referral service owner).  Further checking of the polygraph referral website revealed that this 'service' is using this trainee in many cities/counties outside of the county she lives in as their multi-county 'certified examiner referral' using other rent-by-the-hour office addresses.

Her strong accent was an even bigger problem due to her use of needlessly complicated question wording such as "Since you've been married to ___ have you touched another person's genitals for sexual gratification other than your husband?'.

Client claims that this 'supervisor' was not present. Client wants a refund of the useless $150 'match-making' fee and a refund of the $400 and feels they were ripped-off.

(another) Complaint about a new California polygraph examiner: he charged her card $175 to test herself, said she failed including some 'inconclusive', offered to retest her for $200 cash, she failed again. She says she shouldn't have failed any, and the examiner told her a story about getting into a fight with another recent client (this fight previously listed as a complaint here). And still no written reports.
